Books for every journey, stories for every heart.
It's a Beautiful Thing Publishing presents Book No. 01, The Stillness of Time, a photographic publication by Steve Glass.
The Stillness of Time is a book to return to—a place where time settles and silence carries weight.
Spanning fourteen years of travel, this collection invites the viewer to slow down and linger over doors, walls, and windows captured in quiet moments of observation.
Rather than focusing on grand landmarks, the work explores unnamed streets and overlooked details of everyday life—worn timber, crumbling stone, and weathered paint transformed through the lens into images that feel almost tactile.
Each photograph is quietly evocative, leaving space for the viewer's own interpretation and story.
In a world of constant distraction, moments of quiet observation have become rare. The Stillness of Time invites you to slow down, to linger over doors, walls and windows captured across fourteen years of travel, and discover the beauty in details a hurried glance would miss. These are not grand monuments or famous facades, but the unnamed streets and overlooked thresholds of everyday life: worn timber, crumbling stone, weathered paint, transformed through Steve Glass’s lens into images that feel almost tactile. Quietly evocative, each photograph leaves space for the viewer’s own story.
"Like sands through the hour Glass, Steve Glass travels through doorways of time! Beautiful, inspirational, captivating art. I feel as if I am the one traveling through these doors with you!"
"Steve's work is wonderfully diverse and meticulously crafted, and the exhibition leaves the viewer in no doubt that they have had an experience rather than simply a visit to a gallery."
"What strikes me most is how quiet it is – not just the subject matter, but the whole experience of looking at these images. Each photograph feels carefully chosen, and the production quality looks really something."
The Photographs

Travelling past doors, walls, and windows,
moments emerge where time becomes art.
The Stillness of Time brings together a curated collection of 115 photographs from fourteen years of travel around the world. More importantly, they are a collection that has been thoughtfully composed to create rhythm and surprise, mixing locations and textures to guide you through a visual journey that feels both intimate and expansive.
A physical object made to be kept.
This is a contemplative photographic art book, designed to slow you down the moment you pick it up. A portrait-format hardcover (297 mm × 264 mm), it is casebound in silk over a solid 3 mm board, giving it a gallery-grade presence and a reassuring weight in the hand. A soft-touch laminated cover makes the surface velvety and matte, while a raised white-foil title catches the light with a quiet, understated shimmer.
Open the book and you're greeted by textured 170 gsm endpapers that echo the tactile quality of the photographs within. The interior pages are printed on 170 gsm soft silk stock, chosen to give the images gentle depth and excellent tonal reproduction without harsh gloss. Each copy is signed, hand-numbered, and stamped with the publisher's ink seal, then housed in a beautifully designed slipcase so the book feels like a complete, carefully considered object from the moment it arrives.
At selected Kickstarter tiers, you can extend the experience beyond the book. One reward level unlocks a set of six A6 art prints, produced on 400 gsm silk with smooth matte lamination – perfect for framing or pinning up as a small constellation of images in your space. Higher tiers offer large-format A3 giclée prints, hand-numbered and printed on genuine mould-made paper with a velvety surface and rich depth. Each print is individually signed, embossed with the publisher's seal, and accompanied by its own certificate of authenticity. All backers are thanked by name in a dedicated section at the back of the book, so your support becomes part of the edition's permanent record.
