IABTP – It's a Beautiful Thing Publishing – is a boutique publishing house based on the British island of Guernsey, nestled near the French coast, specialising in limited-run, design-led books that celebrate unusual subjects and obsessive detail. Rooted in a love of print, photography and cultural ephemera, we treat every project as an art object as much as a reading experience.
Our Story
Founded by Mark Whyte – designer and lifelong collector – IABTP was born from a simple conviction: that certain subjects deserve more than a Wikipedia page or a forum thread. They deserve a book. A properly made, beautifully considered, shelf-worthy book.
Working with artists, collectors and storytellers, we develop titles that sit at the crossroads of visual culture and documentary – the kinds of books that feel as good in the hand as they look on the shelf. From first sketch to final bound copy, we keep our list intentionally small so each publication receives the time, craft and care it deserves.
Every project we take on is chosen because it fills a genuine gap – something undocumented, underserved, or simply waiting for someone to do it justice.
